nosebleeds

I am plagued with chronic nosebleeds this time of year. Every once in a while I'll rub my nose and it will respond with a cokehead-force blood stream. Over the years I've grown used to it - I know when to expect nosebleeds and the most efficient ways to stop them. I'm a pro.

I have always had the option of having my nostrils cauterized - it would stop them forever. I never had it done. At first I didn't because I was afraid of hospitals. The last time I had been to one they dunked me in a tub of ice water (I was a baby with a fever, I guess it makes sense).

I got over that fear, though, but I still won't get my nostrils cauterized. I think it's because I've simply grown fond of my winter nosebleeds. They are, for better or worse, something unique to me. They remind me of my childhood, my individuality, and my humanity.

I am currently in a process of learning to love my peculiarities; how strange that nosebleeds would come first.

Me too. Except it was because I picked my nose too often as a child. One time I sneezed WHILE my nose was bleeding. Red shit everywhere. Mom stopped talking to me for a week because it got all over the walls and wouldn't come off.

I have the exact same issue. Although none so far this year, maybe maryland is more humid than Canada.

I'd be worried that if I got my nostrils cauterized, I'd end up deprived of one of my favourite sense, just like Emma.

In the meantime, I find that drinking copious amounts of water all winter really helps.

Oh, "water," eh? Is that what they call it in Canada?

I'll cauterize your nose holes for you. In the name of Christmas and love :)

i had my eyeballs cauterized once. it wasn't so bad. and by that i mean it was awful, don't let them come near you with that soldering iron. isn't it the secret garden where they dunk that frail kid in a tub of ice water? thats the image that i had in my when i read this.

Tisk Tisk, just remember it's all fun and games until you have to get a blood transfusion...

But I digress... I suppose there are worse things to like about one's self... Though I personally don't get them anymore, I can relate to the nostalgia of them. When I was little it was always a sign that a.) I was sick. or b.) It was winter.

Though ever since the whole thing with my little brother almost dying from them, I'll admit they sort of freak me out. But I trust you know what you're doing!

....Just, Just don't swallow it. XP
